This Privacy Policy describes how My Wavelength ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website, web app, and Android app (the "Service"). We try to collect as little as possible and never sell your data.
1. What We Collect
Information you provide
- Custom prompts you set for your MyWaveLink
- Messages you receive (and, for senders, messages you send)
- Reports and feedback you submit
- Email address, only if you choose to contact us
Information collected automatically
- A device-level browser fingerprint (used to stop spam and repeat abusers, not to identify you personally)
- IP address, user agent, language, and approximate location (city/country level)
- Anonymised usage analytics (page views, clicks)
- Bot-protection challenge signals
2. How We Use Your Information
- To operate the Service — generate links, deliver messages, display the app
- To moderate content and protect users from abuse, spam, and bots
- To enforce our Terms and respond to reports
- To improve the Service through aggregated, anonymised analytics
- To communicate with you when you contact us
3. Anonymity of Senders
When someone sends you an anonymous message, we do not display their identity to you. We do retain technical signals (IP, fingerprint) needed to enforce safety rules and law-enforcement requests, but we will not voluntarily deanonymise senders to other users. Messages are not "premium-unlockable" — there is no paid tier to reveal senders.
4. What We Don't Do
- We do not sell your personal data
- We do not run targeted ads
- We do not share message content with third parties for marketing
- We do not require an account or email to use the Service
5. Third-Party Processors
We use a small number of trusted technical providers to operate the Service:
- A cloud hosting and database provider — for storing message data
- A bot-protection challenge provider — to block automated abuse
- An anonymised analytics provider — to understand usage patterns
- A device-signal abuse-prevention provider — to stop repeat bad senders
Each processor has its own privacy policy and we limit them strictly to the data they need to deliver their function. If you would like the current list of named processors, contact us at mywavelength.app@gmail.com.
6. Data Retention
- Messages: stored until you delete them or delete your link
- Abuse signals (fingerprints, blocked IPs): retained as long as needed to enforce safety
- Analytics: retained per our analytics provider's defaults
7. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for processing
- Object to certain uses of your data
- Lodge a complaint with your data protection authority
To exercise any of these rights, email mywavelength.app@gmail.com.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13 (16 in the EU/EEA). We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone below that age. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International Transfers
My Wavelength is operated globally and may transfer data across borders, including to countries that may have different data-protection rules than yours. We use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable).
10. Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls, and standard cloud-security practices to protect your data. No system is 100% secure; if you suspect unauthorised access, please contact us immediately.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
