How My Wavelength Protects You
My Wavelength ships with safety as a default, not a paid upgrade. Every link is automatically protected by:
- Industrial-grade bot challenges — silently blocks 99%+ of automated traffic before it ever reaches your inbox
- Language & abuse filters — slurs, threats, and harassment patterns are blocked or held for review
- Rate limiting — no single sender can flood your inbox with hundreds of messages
- Device-level abuse prevention — repeat abusers get blocked even when changing accounts
- One-tap reporting — every message has a report button. Reports train our filters and remove bad senders
- No data resale — your inbox is yours, not a marketing list
How to Report a Message
If you ever receive a message that crosses a line:
- Tap the three-dot menu on the message inside the My Wavelength app.
- Choose Report and pick a category (harassment, spam, sexual content, threats, other).
- The message is removed from your inbox immediately and reviewed by our team.
- If urgent, email us at mywavelength.app@gmail.com.
If a message contains threats of violence, self-harm, or shares personal info like your home address, also contact local authorities and a trusted adult.
Pause or Reset Your Link
You're always in control. Open the app and you can:
- Pause your link — new messages stop arriving immediately, existing ones stay
- Regenerate your link — old URL stops working, new URL gets created
- Delete your link — wipes everything, no questions asked
Guidance for Parents
If your teen uses anonymous messaging apps, a few practical tips:
- Talk about it openly. Knowing they can show you a message without judgment is the single biggest protection.
- Walk through the report flow together. Make it muscle memory.
- Encourage them to take breaks. No one needs to check their inbox at 11pm on a school night.
- Remind them: anything that feels wrong probably is. Trust the instinct.
Guidance for Teens
Anonymous messaging is fun, and most of what you'll receive is sweet, funny, or curious. But here's what to do if something feels off:
- Stop replying. You don't owe anyone a response.
- Screenshot. Take a record of the message before it disappears.
- Tell someone you trust. Parent, sibling, teacher, counselor — saying it out loud usually shrinks it.
- Report it. Use the in-app report button so we can act.
What We Don't Allow
- Harassment, hate speech, slurs, or targeted abuse
- Threats of violence or self-harm content
- Sexually explicit content sent without consent, or anything involving minors
- Sharing personal information (doxxing) about another person
- Spam, scams, or fraud attempts
Violating senders are blocked from the platform at the device and account level.
